Infertility affects about 1 in 8 people, 7.3 million people in the U.S. alone. That number is 12% of childbearing aged women; however, infertility affects both men and women. If you are unable to become pregnant after a year of unprotected sex (or 6 months for women over 35), an evaluation is appropriate. Depending on each couple's individual situation, certain blood tests may be recommended as part of an infertility assessment. Blood tests that might be ordered include day 3 Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH), Luteinizing Hormone (LH), Estradiol (E2), AMH, Prolactin, Testosterone Total, Progesterone, Thyroxin (T4) and Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH).
