The "founding" doctorate of nursing practice (DNP) degree program at the University of South Carolina School of Nursing was originally designed to prepare the clinical nurse practitioner in scholarship academia with advanced clinical rotations and offered the ability to obtain double or triple board certification opportunity.
The goal of the original programs were to develop expertise in Translational evidenced-based research strategies and bring programs into the clinical practice setting.
DNPs that were fortunate enough to graduate from the University of South Carolina's founding DNP program had the ability to sit for national boards if desired, and obtain double or triple board certifications depending on current credentials. The DNP program provided training to design innovative clinical delivery models that improved individualized treatment programs in efforts to improve the national health statistics and lower the burden of health care costs.

- I have focused my career in developing a model I call the Seven Pillars of Healing that gets to the root cause of chronic illness. In short, I nickname my model "raw health" that needs a "raw doctor!" The raw data from working with patients must include the function and alterations in metabolism, coupled with the need to apply conservative therapies such as education in nutrition, sleep, exercise, gut microbiome, hormones, mental health and the necessary lifestyle changes that optimize and modulate physiology and behavior.
- I have a special place in my heart for the elderly population in my community that are reached and served via a networking relationship with local congregations, and church resources helpomg mitigate the isolation, falls, and living alone risk factors that are prominent disparities in rural communities.
- I believe an unhealthy population is aging prematurely population and is experiencing the burdens of chronic disease, high medical cost, and medication side effects from a "poly-medications/poly-pharmacy" driven conventional medical model coupled with the co-morbidity challenges of pain management, opioid use disorder, addiction, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease and dementia. Many Chronic diseases are ongoing, and if not dealt with or mitigated early may become generally incurable illnesses such as heart disease, cancer, and diabetes. These diseases are often preventable through early disease detection, improved diet, exercise, lifestyle changes and mental health treatment and cognitive behavior therapy and counseling.
- I offer tele-health for professional consulting and counseling in efforts to improve critical health risk factors driving the devasting chronic disease statistics in our nation. Many patients in addition to their chronic medical diagnosis also struggle greatly with pain management issues, failed back surgeries, chronic depression, loneliness, anxiety, opioid use disorder, substance abuse, addictions and mental health conditions that become an overwhelming "barrier to HEALTH.
- I have learned from my patients that when they experience chronic depression with symptoms, and no relief from medication(s), they stop implementing their home lifestyle positive strategies and their condition begins to worsen. Worse case scenario we consistently see in the elderly is a fall that requires surgery, rehab and the real possibility of not being able to return to life at home. When a family member has to leave the home due to stroke, dementia, or falls, and ends up in assisted living or a far worse out-of-pocket situation for family members with a loved one suffering from dementia and evaluating lock down units, this becomes a family stressor affecting members life and is extremely costly to the family members as they learn the extreme price points are NOT covered by insurance or Medicare.
- I have worked with families in the above positions and healthcare scenarios over and over again in the life of our current Coastal Carolinas Integrative Medicine elderly pain management patients, Addiction Medicine OUD patients and the thousands of patients we had the honor of serving in our self-owned Anesthesia Group and in-house pain management service at the Brunswick Community Hospital, NC., before we sold our group contract and several hospital sell offs later, as the population growth exploded! These healthcare initiatives were once-in-a-lifetime opportunities that have long past, but as a husband & wife team we had the medical entrepreneurship of a lifetime!
- Today, we hold 5 medical patents and continue to create new business and investments within our Coastal community. These healthcare experience over decades drives my unstoppable passion for preventing devastating chronic disease and aging with empathy and thankfulness for an awesome opportunity to serve my once "rural" coastal community, raise awareness of risk factors, usher in an organic chemical free mindset to healthcare and most importantly give God all the glory for the best years of my life raising six children who grew into amazing and successful young adults who join me now in my vision to work for a dream and leave a legacy of wealth as they embrace the American dream of small business owners with an entrepreneurial mindset in every pillar of a healthy life!
As a Christ follower and a healthcare provider I am passionate about serving in leadership roles in her community as well as in the local church in efforts to bridge faith communities together. I love teaching bible studies and conduct health & wellness seminars on various topics to all age groups.
My family has a goal of building Creation Science Centers within congregations and community sites for bible studies, and to improve Interfaith Fellowship within community members that has potential to deepen discussions, spirituality and friendships!
A recent report from the CDC showed that 94% of US deaths involving COVID-19 were associated with other conditions, or comorbidities. Healthcare is a bridge to productive dialogue and conversations based on a willingness to recognize and probe genuine differences while also seeking that which is held in common for the greater good of mankind and community.
Many Research studies validate and report positive outcomes when we bridge religion, medicine and healthcare in efforts to heal separations and division.
The American Heart Association states prevention strategies and early intervention has potential to mitigate or reverse devastating disease such as stress, anxiety, drug addiction, violence, as welt as chronic disease that is overwhelming our national health care budget and establishing a crisis in the American family.
As a healthcare practitioner I encourage and teach health professional faith-based training seminars as it relates to healthcare conversations. Described in this paper, is the understanding and critical need for integrating spirituality into patient care, at the patient's request, in every healthcare setting. The provider should be able to do so in a sensible and sensitive way, because at stake is the health and well-being of patient and hopefully, the satisfaction that we as health care providers can experience in delivering care that addresses the whole person—body, mind, and spirit. Diverse religions, medicine, and healthcare have been related in one way or another in all population groups since the beginning of recorded history.

"Do No Harm" and "Know ye not that ye are the temple of the Holy Spirit"
(1 Corinthians 6:19.)
For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities —his eternal power and divine nature — have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse Romans 1:20)
