![]() Politics is a topic in our home because faith & advocacy is how my kids were raised. If you're involved in making your community, campus or state better you are by definition involved in faith & politics! My kids and I were discussing how a National ministry leader once said to us, that the campus ministry our kids lead on their college campus called Cufi on Campus is does not get political. We just shook our head and assumed he was having brain neuron issues! Cufi speaks with one voice on Capitol Hill advocating for Israel. Anyway, back to our politics conversation politics, Russia and our millennial generation! Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites coupled with talking heads reporting the "news" seem to not be able to stop talking about Russia. Today the front porch rocking chair is now a window to the global stage. The recent news from Beijing, is that Prime Minister Netanyahu met with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and spoke at the Israel-China Business and Innovation Summit! I wish I could have been a fly on the wall at this Summit! The tour centered on boosting economic ties between Israel and China, and their hi-tech sector. I am always amazed when I see BDS movements (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions) against Israel given the fact that Israel is the only democracy in the Middle East and the foremost center of global innovation, and a technological global power! If you do not know what BDS is click here. What in the global world is going on with Russia and the U.S. after more than two decades of obscurity? As President Trump sorts it all out here is what we do know from the lips of Russian President Vladimir Putin when he declared;
"Our partners, regardless of the situations in their countries or their foreign policies, should always keep in mind that Russia is not to be messed with. I want to remind you that Russia is one of the largest nuclear powers. This is reality, not just words; moreover, we are strengthening our nuclear deterrence forces." What you know or don't know or "think" about Russia, The Cold War and the long nuclear standoff will certainly depend on how old you currently are. What young Americans must understand, as their grandparents will testify, is the fact that peace should never be taken for granted and it requires relentless effort, and wisdom to sustain it, especially between world superpowers both good or bad. To further your study here is a great read and critical analysis to understand the deep strategic differences between the United States and Russia, and the origins of those differences that have never been properly understood by either side click here! Here is a list of some brilliant literature books about the cold war. Click Here and bring up Russia just for fun at your next social gathering and see what people know or don't know! I promise you education ROCKS! Blessings, Dr. Carly Comments are closed.
