Over this past weekend, nine people were killed, and 50 others wounded in Chicago, home of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, where Rahm Emanuel is the mayor. Since President Obama took office in 2009, there have been close to 3,500 murders in Chicago. Read Lieutenant Colonel Alan West's full story HERE Colonel West is one man that I point my son towards to follow his leadership & read his work. He is a true patriot, leader and role model for young men! ![]() As a homeschooling mother for 24 years I have mentored my son in hundreds of areas. We like reading autobiographies from world history. I love reading books about great inventions and inventors, scientist, artists, leaders, courage, music and famous congressman, lawyers and senators as a way to inspire myself and my kids.. We've studied the steps of Webster, Lincoln, Pasteur, Columbus, Jackson, Carver and Morse just to name a few! One tip Mr. Carver wrote in his diaries was he got up at 4 a.m. each day asking the good Lord what He would have him do today! He was known as the plant doctor who invented well over 300 products! Click here to read more of his fascinating bio! My son is a big sports fan so the actions of Mr. Kaepernick over the last few days deserve a conversation in every home. This is a great teaching moment for mothers as you demonstrate the fact that decisions and relationships affect the course of human history. Sadly, we've all had to read more than we wanted to regarding Kaepernick. I read up on him for no other reason but to try and understand "why" he had such disrespect our for our military. An article written by the Conservative Tree House reported some concerns that the media and the NFL will avoid in these discussions like the plague, but the Truth Has No Agenda. Click Here to read this article. The article reports that during the off-season Kaepernick converted to Islam. Colin Kaepernick is also engaged to Black Lives Matter activist and hip-hop radio personality DJ Nessa Diab. Black Lives Matter as an activist group is synonymous with promotion of authentic Islam. In the social justice arena, some report there is no daylight between the various BLM activism groups, and activist Islam. They are interwoven amid every controversial eruption over the past six years. They have tried to draw attention to it numerous times, but many don’t fully grasp the scope of the relationship between radical Islam and Black Lives Matter. It’s a symbiosis, a complete synergy in activism and intent. The league said, “Players are encouraged but not required to stand during the playing of the national anthem.” It is noted that 49ers player Colin Kaepernick sat in front of the water coolers on the sideline while his teammates stood for The National Anthem.. Mr. Kaepernick said “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color,” he told NFL Media in an interview published on Saturday. “There are bodies in the street and people getting paid leave and getting away with murder,” NFL players would serve Black Lives Matter better by talking about the deaths in Chicago. It was reported that one of the victims over the weekend was Nykea Aldridge, first cousin of NBA star Dwyane Wade, who was caught in the crossfire. Click Here. Aldridge was a mother who at the time was walking her infant baby in a stroller. She was gunned down in cold blood, and consequently died Friday.. As a nurse I am guessing this probably was Ms. Aldridge's first attempt at going for a walk with her infant, since she was post-partum. The baby, just 3 weeks old, by the Grace of God, was not injured, If Ms. Aldridge was nursing her precious baby, I can tell you the infant wewn on and had a terrible weekend screaming for its mother as the baby learned to bottle feed. This tragedy is not about a flag, or a country that oppresses black people or the National Athem. Great leaders can be found every day building into the lives of people all over this country and certainly fill the pages of American history books like; George Washington Carver said "May God ever bless, keep, guide and continue to prosper you in your uplifting work for humanity, be it great or small, is my prayer. He was greatly used by God to discover countless numbers of scientific wonders and to lead a life which has inspired millions of Christians everywhere! Mahalia Jackson said "Blues are the songs of despair" Gospel songs belong to the Lord. "Gospel songs are the songs of hope" Mahalia became an internationally known recording artist and church performer. I wish I could have been there the day Mahalia received a phone call from Mayer Duley of Chicago asking her to sing The Star Spangled Banner the night before John F. Kennedy was to take the oath of office as president! I know that on that historic day her mother smiled down from heaven! Samuel Morse a famous artist boarded a ship in France to sail for New York and the story goes on to tell us when he disembarked in NYC announced to his brothers that he had an important invention that would astonish the world! He invented the telegraph as a way to communicate by means of electricity! The dots and spaces made it possible! He gave of his life full time to inventing the telegraph for 12 years! ![]() Samuel Morse founded the School of Painting called "Democratic Art." The purpose of this type of painting was to educate the "public mind" and turn people's thoughts to moral principles. His Representative Hall is an example of a painting that shows democracy in action! He took a leading role in the establishment of Sunday schools. With missionary zeal he constantly urged others to the faith! Next time you use your PHONE for communication or pictures take a moment to remember the father of the telegraph, who is also the father of photography in American History! Nearly every country in the world gave him a medal or some other type of award. After his death, he was elected to the Hall of Fame of Great Americans! I wonder if our Mr. 49er and his girlfriend ever think about Samuel Morse's 12 years of labor in wire, magnets, batteries, drawings, diagrams of wire circuits, electromagnets, levers, switches, and a moving strip of paper as the "foundation" of their social media outlets they so "freely" use to divide the country? Here is another favorite leader of mine, Richard Allen who was born into slavery in 1760. Allen founded the first national black church in the United States, the African Methodist Episcopal Church, in 1816.
