Learning Torah & the Jewish Roots of Christianity has made the most profound change in my life! When you connect with the Jewish Roots you realize it is not just a matter of accurate understanding but it is a matter of prophetic destiny. Israel IS God's plan for the nations of the world. Israel is God's answer to a fallen world. Israel is raised up by God as a testimony to the world, a lighthouse pointing the way to the one true God.
When I became "adopted" as a Jewish mother my life took a 90 degree turn one day and I stepped up to begin my home ministry learning everything I could about the Jewish culture and teach my twins! Needless to say, my faith, spirituality, knowledge-base and understanding of the Hebrew roots completed my understanding of my faith and relationship with Messiah by 100 fold! The day I saw Messiah in The Biblical Feasts my life was changed forever! It was like something clicked in a way that it never clicked before. Every day since then has been supernaturally transforming and I wish this for every Christian and pray it in for the church one day! These days the more I study the happier and excited I get! The hundreds of Christian denominations never made sense to me until I learned Torah and read the Bible through the eyes of our Savior, a very Jewish Rabbi "Jesus" and understood his culture, family and disciples all from a Middle East perspective. Christianity worships a Jewish Savior, whose Jewish disciples founded a Jewish religion in Israel. They spoke the Jewish language (Hebrew), they read the Jewish scriptures, they attended Jewish synagogues, they taught using the teaching techniques of the Jewish religious teachers of their day (the rabbis). These are the same people who authored our Christian scriptures, both the Old and the New Testaments. Jesus was a Jew of the line of David (Matt. 1:6)! Paul was a student of the famous Rabbi Gamaliel (Acts 22:3)! I encourage to begin your study of the Hebrew roots of Christianity and begin to experience a whole new exciting life in the power of Messiah! We are now celebrating the Fall Feast and we have just completed Rosh Hashana and The Day of Atonement. After the Day of Atonement, the next festival is the Feast of Tabernacles, which began TONIGHT and will last for seven days. Immediately following this festival is the final, one-day festival we call the eight day! So who doesn't LOVE a week long party! The Feast of Tabernacles, is also known as the Feast of Ingathering or Feast of Booths or Sukkot. It is the seventh and last feast that the Lord commanded Israel to observe. It is also one of the three feasts that Jews were to observe each year by going to “appear before the Lord your God in the place which He shall choose” (Deuteronomy 16:16). We can begin to understand how important this Feast is to the LORD because of how many places it is mentioned in the Bible. It was at this time that King Solomon's Temple was dedicated to the Lord (1 Kings 8:2). Sukkot or The Feast of Tabernacles is a clear picture of the 1,000-year rule of Jesus Christ on this earth, known as the Millennium (Revelation 20:4-6). This follows after the binding of Satan pictured by the Holy Day of Atonement (Revelation 20:1-3). The strong possibility that Jesus was born at the time of the Feast of Tabernacles is also seen in the words John wrote (John 1:14). He came to "tabernacle among us!" (For those who are counting back 9 months that would make the immaculate conception at Hanukkah, "The Light of The World!") “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” The word John chose to speak of Jesus “dwelling” among us is the word tabernacle, which simply means to “dwell in a tent.” Paul’s words make so much more sense now with an understanding of the Jewish roots: "Remember that you were at that time without Christ, being alienated from the citizenship of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise [made with Israel], having no hope and in the world without God. But now, in Christ Jesus, you [non-Jews] who once were far away were made near by the blood of Christ…. So, therefore, you are no longer foreigners and strangers, but you are fellow-citizens [of Israel] with the holy ones and members of the household of God" (Ephesians 2:12, 13, 19). When we understand that Messiah Jesus rules a "greater Israel" over many kinds of sheep, not all of whom live as Jews, but who are from every tribe, language, and nation (John 10:16) we begin to understand the Kingdom of Messiah! So, start where you are at and begin to learn about Sukkot right now and teach your kids! Look it up and prove yourself worthy by careful study and just maybe you might want to make a Sukkah with the kids and get out under the stars of heaven for dinner and simply connect with God "around the table!"
