 The Feast of Unleavened Bread is a feast that is generally mistaken for Passover. Passover is a 24-hour period and The Feast of Unleavened Bread lasts for seven days. Numbers 28:16-17 in (during) the 14th day of the first month shall be the LORD's Passover. On the fifteenth day of this month shall be a feast, unleavened bread shall be eaten for seven days.
So, Passover and The Feast of Unleavened Bread is a Celebration for eight days that you may honor! Teaching the Bible to your family is so much fun when you can do it together around the table! The Hebrew word TORAH means utterance or teaching, instruction or Revelation from Elohim. When the word Torah was translated into English the word "Law" was used in translating. The word law clearly does not mean "revelation" in English! Much of the symbolism of Jesus' last Passover week is lost to us because we are unaware of the customs of the time.The day Jesus was crucified was the day of the Passover celebration and the day that the Passover lamb was to be sacrificed. For the previous 1,200 years, the priest would blow the shophar (ram's horn) at 3:00 p.m. - the moment the lamb was sacrificed, and all the people would pause to contemplate the sacrifice for sins on behalf of the people of Israel. The festival of the Passover has been celebrated by Jews for thousands of years. It is the retelling of the great story of how God redeemed the Jewish nation from enslavement in Egypt.The original celebration centered around the Passover lamb, which was sacrificed and its blood put over the doorposts as a sign of faith, so that the Lord passed over the houses of the Jews during the last plague poured out on the Egyptians - the killing of every firstborn. At 3:00, when Jesus was being crucified (Mark 15:34-37) (Luke 23:44-46), He said, "It is finished" (John 19:30) - at the exact moment that the Passover lamb was sacrificed and the shophar was blown from the Temple. The sacrifice of the lamb of God was fulfilled at the hour that the symbolic animal sacrifice usually took place. At the same time, the veil of the Temple (a three-inch thick, several story high cloth that demarked the Holy of Holies) tore from top to bottom (Hebrews 9:3) (Matthew 27:51) - representing a removal of the separation between God and man. The entire story can be read in the book of Exodus, (see chapter 12). The Passover lamb was still sacrificed in the first century, as indicated in the New Testament (Luke 22:7) Matthew 27:46, 50) See also Mark 15:34-37,Luke 23:44-46 God told us in Deuteronomy 16:16, His Big 3 Days and revealed His clock that runs the world! He told us to keep 3 Eternal Holy Days which are The Feast of Unleavened Bread, The Feast of Weeks, and The Feast of Booths. The 3 Feasts are "Appointed Celebrations" and it is very healthy for the family to learn about them and definitely Celebrate them!
