"Crossed" rifles in the sand are a comrade's tribute for killed soldiers. According to a Gallup Youth Survey just two-thirds of American teens (66%) are able to identify Adolf Hitler with Germany. One in seven (14%) give some other answer: 21% do not know which nation Hitler is associated. Only one-fourth of teens (25%) can associate Winston Churchill with England. Half (50%) cannot identify Churchill with a particular nation. Less than half (42%) of teens did not know what document guarantees the right of free press in this country! 42% of teens answered this question by saying they didn't know at all and others gave some semblance of a correct answer with 18% naming the Bill of Rights, 16% naming the Constitution, and 8% mentioning the First Amendment. Parents, please do not rely on the schools or churches to teach or impart wisdom into your children. You have been given 18 years to "prepare" to give them back to God, well read so they can lead this nation. Parents must teach leadership over the 18 years of raising your children. This is an excellent time to sow this into your children because if no one else is going too! Leadership is first a commitment to your marriage and raising children and next your career. When you are successful in those two areas your leadership skills will be easily observed by others and desired. A great way to teach the Word of God is by modeling it in your daily life! Tonight pause with your kids for a moment, deliver a salute and pay tribute to the more than 160,000 troops who landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. June, 6, 1944. It is well known that some of our heroes were only 16, 17, 18, and 19 years old when they enlisted illegally because they felt "called" to the crusade regardless of age.
As I sat in a church service yesterday I was surprised the Pastor did not mention D-Day. I was thinking a quick film right now on D-Day would illustrate leadership and the potential we have in our families to teach patriotism and honor as prerequisite for leadership. Sadly, according to polls most teens have no idea that in 1944 teenagers became paratroopers in the 82nd Airborne Division and jumped into Normandy by way of a C-47! Reading, studying and applying the teachings of the Torah is the leadership plan of God. Your family IS your ministry and you need to focus your "dart" exactly on the target which is your marriage and your children! To experience success you must know exactly what target you are trying to hit. The school systems, youth groups, & the hundreds of volunteer opportunities are all good and well, but when the American Family falls apart so goes the nation and the church. I will testify to you standing on 27 years of marriage and 6 kids that no one is coming to your rescue. YOU must be the leadership of your home and serve your world from that perspective. In Deut. 11:18:23 we read "And ye shall teach Them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up." Your children are given to you to "steward" and you must as parents teach and impart biblical wisdom into your children. Teach along the path as you go. Visit historic places and look up history. Host a Vet in your home and invite all the kids over to listen to his or her story. There isn't much time left before all the World War II veteran's are gone from earth. Embrace one today! May God Bless America Blessings, Dr. Carly |
