 Purim is a Warning for the USA and one can learn much from understanding the teaching in Purim. The danger lies in a leader's advisors. In my prayer time this morning I was praying about the current terrorists attacks Belgium families are dealing with and the paralyzing fear & horror their children are experiencing. My mother's heart is broken for Belgium as well as the 80% of Syrian children dramatically & forever traumatized by the 8 year Syrian War. As I approached my kitchen and saw my precious little ones I wondered what America will be like 50 years from now? Will this terror continue to grow on American soil? Will the disagreements between political parties continue to grow more divisive? Will our streets become Syria? Enough is enough and it is time for the world to stand together and reject this senseless hateful religious theology called radical Islam who tolerate nothing and no one outside of their ideology. The bloodshed comes four days after the arrest of fugitive Paris terror attacks suspect Salah Abdeslam in Brussels. No-one has claimed responsibility for Tuesday’s carnage in the Belgian capital but supporters of ISIL have taken to social media to praise the attacks. Good people will always yearn for peace and restoration, but there will always be those among us who will not assimilate and have the goal to conquer by the sword. Without rule of law and respect for country unity is impossible and a longing for supremacy over others becomes the goal. Our world has changed forever and the faint echos of hopeful campaign slogans describing a better world weigh in the balance and are found wanting. We find ourselves in the same situation as 4th Century Queen Esther and the Jewish people did and their story reminds us all of the never ending anti-semitic and ever increasing anti-christian hate all over the word. “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance will arise for the Jews from another place and you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows whether you have not attained royalty for such a time as this?” (Est 4:14) Last year (2015) at this same time, on the eve of Purim, Israel's President Benjamin Netanyahu addressed our US Congress (click here) . In summary the event demonstrated two leaders laying out what amounted to the biggest policy schism between two countries in years. President Obama defended his diplomatic efforts to negotiate a deal with Iran while President Netanyahu presented them as dangerously naïve. President Obama as well as Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. and more than 50 Democratic lawmakers disrespectfully made a decision to not attend President Netanyahu’s speech. While the White House did not publicly encouraged a boycott, it did send emails late Monday inviting House Democratic aides to a trade meeting at the White House on Tuesday at a time that would make it hard for them to attend the speech. As this years Purim 2016 Celebration begins we find Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu speaking these words; "He hopes the US will continue to reject any move towards a UN Security Council resolution backing Palestinian statehood." The resolution “to pressure Israel would further harden Palestinian positions and thereby could actually kill the chances of peace for many, many years,” he said he was ready to begin talks “immediately, without preconditions” for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The PM has insisted that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas did not back the idea on Tuesday at a meeting of the powerful pro-Israel AIPAC lobbying group in Washington via satellite from Israel. As Europe explodes, we wonder how America got itself into the position it finds itself in today as the crises in the Middle East escalates to epic proportions. I clearly remember December 21, 2011 when President Obama was in Fort Bragg making it official and ending 9 years of war and leaving Iraq's future in the hands of its people. How dim this vision of Mr. Obama's has become as he once came into office seeking to "improve" relations with Russia and Israel." One can only wonder why we find President Obama in Cuba meeting with Rual Castro fulfilling some crazy "pledge" to improve relations with Havana. The problem is Rual Castro has "demanded" the closure of the US Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay. This makes me very nervous as a mother who observes President Obama's futile attempts at an "improving relations" strategies over his presidential era. I don't know about you but my head is spinning trying to follow any logical thought pattern of our Commander and Chief.
