We have the technology to tell the difference between mercury coming from fish verses metals coming from your teeth or other sources. Labs can separate methyl mercury from inorganic mercury and measure each one directly. This way we can evaluate not only your mercury levels but also your exposure source.
In the past sensitivity of analytical equipment was not advanced enough to measure ambient (steady state) blood mercury levels. Once we understand your levels we can properly detox and educate how to stay healthy.
One problem with eating fish (which I believe fish with fins and scales is the healthiest food on the planet) is the heavy metals, especially mercury. This can be especially harmful to pregnant women and small children.
The levels of heavy metals vary significantly among fish species and organs. Muscles always possess the lowest concentrations of all metals. In most studied fish, the liver was the target organ for Copper, Zinc, and Iron accumulation. Lead is highest in the gills. Different species of fish show variations of metals based on age, geographical distribution and species specific factor. Farmed fish is a complete disaster. Click Here
The American Heart Association recommends eating fish at least twice per week in order to reach the daily intake of omega-3 fatty acids. Many national and international monitoring programs have been established in order to assess the quality of fish for human consumption and to monitor the health of the aquatic ecosystem.
The advocacy group OCEANA (Oceana is the largest international advocacy organization dedicated solely to ocean conservation) conducted DNA testing on salmon samples collected in restaurants and stores in the USA and 43% were FARMED and marketed as wild salmon or were a totally different species!
You might ask why not just supplement with fish oils? This answer is complex but man will never figure out the complexity of the fish nutrients. Scripture records Jesus fed fish to the people, period. Wisdom will tell you there is Divine Providence in the deep and "somethings" we don't know so we need to protect the waters for the sake of the fish!
Know your FISH source because 91% of seafood consumed in the USA is imported from overseas!!! Who knows what it is!
The company I use is Wild Alaskan Company and it is delivered directly to my home! I NEVER eat it out in restaurants and I don't trust I especially don't trust the fish. Seafood fraud is rampant in America. Farmed salmon is mislabeled as wild every day. Unless you are connected to a trusted source it is impossible to know what you are eating. Wild caught sustainable is the only option!
