WINNING THE WAR ON CANCER!

We are making PROGRESS! CVS has announced it’s removing numerous toxic chemicals from hundreds of its store-brand beauty and personal care products. By the end of 2019, these nearly 600 products will no longer contain parabens, phthalates or formaldehyde-releasers. Check out all the details in the  joint news release with CVS.

​This means that millions of families will have healthier products at their fingertips—without shopping in a special section or spending more. This is a big win for our health! Join us in thanking CVS for taking action on toxic chemicals. 

One area of advocacy work I've been involved in is Mind The Store! This group has done an excellent job with retailers. They have been working with health advocates across the nation to encourage retailers to safeguard our health from toxic chemicals and CVS is just the latest company to announce major progress. Target announced a new chemical policy in January and Walmart announced big progress on reducing chemicals of concern last year. Guess what—we are winning!
The idea of Mind The Store campaign is simple—retailers control what products they sell so we’re asking them to make sure those products don’t contain toxic chemicals. We’ve seen time and again that consumers can get companies to act on important health issues—often faster than we can get the government to act.

So how do I get rid of chemicals already in my body? 

I suggest everyone have urine testing done. It is very affordable, easy and the results can save your life. Once we know what toxic chemicals and levels you have we can elevated and  target removal with evidenced based detoxification programs. 

Bisphenol A (BPA) Urine Testing is done to detect chemicals like bisphenol A that occurs mostly through digestion of food and liquids that have been stored and heated in plastic materials. This test also measures Triclosan which biaccumulates in the body and is considered to block thyroid activity affecting metabolism and thyroid hormone signaling. 

Another chemical this urine testing lets us know about is 4-Nonylphenol which is often used as a surfactant, found in industrial detergent, foaming agents, dispersants, and emulsifiers. Most exposure is through the skin. This toxin is a endocrine disruptor and all endocrine disruptors have been shown to lead to cancer.
