God established holy days (and weeks) that He intended the Hebrew people to follow - and everyone to remember. He said they are 'My feasts' and we are supposed to study and know about them. God said three times in Leviticus 23 that his feasts were to be a statute forever. Prophecy states that even in the Millennium the feast of Sukkot/Tabernacles will be observed (Zechariah 14:16-19).
“Then celebrate the Festival of Weeks [Chag ha-Shavuot] to the LORD your God by giving a freewill offering in proportion to the blessings the LORD your God has given you.” (Deuteronomy 16:10) And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, The feasts [Moedim = appointed days/times] of YHWH, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations [Miqra = rehearsal meetings], these are my feasts [Moedim].
As a home school mother, medical provider and seminary trained Christian I have spent decades teaching a LOT in my home on many topics but the one that gets me the most excited is how to tap into the POWER of the Holy Spirit! So how does someone tap into the Divine? One way is to make absolutely sure you and your family understand and "remember" the MIRACLE of God's living calendar! Every believer has an opportunity to meet with the Creator of the Universe at a "scheduled" Appointed TIME that is established by HIM! If that doesn't get you excited for healing, I don't know what would! That gets me so excited for each feast my heart frequency waves probably could be measured miles out from my body! In my home the kitchen became "Appointment With God" Ministries because I would preach about everything (especially food) but especially the special moments called the "Moedim" every chance I had! Why in my kitchen? Because that is where they all "hang-out" and I have their ear even if they are on phones or talking to each other! I just keep on preaching! I know they hear me and I know they eventually will harness all the power the Holy Spirit seals us with and I know the seed is firmly planted!
And YHWH spoke to Moses, saying, Speak to the children of Israel, and say to them, The feasts [Moedim = appointed days/times] of YHWH, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations [Miqra = rehearsal meetings], these are my feasts [Moedim].
The word 'feasts' is a really bad translation! The Hebrew word 'moed' has nothing to do with eating, but means an appointed time. In fact, the 6th appointed day is actually a fast! And 'miqra' means a rehearsal meeting, rehearsing what Messiah would fulfill at his comings - all of them!
We are no longer supposed to sacrifice animals because the Lamb of God, Jesus, Yahshua, has paid for all our sins in finality. Actually, none of the ceremonial statues can be performed without the Temple, which was destroyed in 70 AD - and why it probably won't be rebuilt until the 70th week starts after the Rapture.
But in any event we should try to remember these days because they are "keys" to knowing the details of future fulfillment. Paul reminded the Colossians of this when he said,
Therefore, let no one judge you in food, or in drink, or in regard to a holy day [Heortes = traveling feast/festival and appointed day], or the new moon feast [Noumenia = Yom Teruah, the Day of Trumpets], or the Sabbath week [representing the seven 1000 year days of man] which are a shadow of things to come, and the body of the Christ. *Colossians 2:16-17)
The teachings in Colossians 2:16-17 might not make sense to you unless you know a few more pieces of information:
It is worth repeating that fact that God said three times in Leviticus 23 that his feasts were to be a statute forever. If I tell my kids something three times, I really want them to remember whatever I am telling them and they understand that it is important to me. Prophecy states that even in the Millennium the feast of Sukkot/Tabernacles will be observed (Zechariah 14:16-19).
By not knowing about, and or failing to remember the appointed days, the church has probably missed much of what God gave us for our blessing. The spring feasts should be a great celebration each year of the crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Jesus the Christ, Yahshua HaMashiach!
Celebrating the three fall feasts should be a witness to the world of how and when He will be coming back to earth at the end of the tribulation, and a yearly warning to us to always be ready for the trumpet call.
And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons [Moed], and for days and years. (Genesis 1:14)
The same word is used in the very beginning of the Creation Story, which tells us the purpose of the sun, moon, and stars are first to divide day and night, secondly, for signals and appointed days, and lastly, for counting days and years.
Feast days are special but sometimes they are more than special and they become special and RARE! Rare because the Jewish Holiday actually will line up with the Christian Holiday! Today is a rare alignment as we observe that the Christian celebration of Pentecost June 9, 2019, coincides with the Jewish celebration of Shavuot! The name of the festival is actually derived from the Hebrew word shavuah, meaning week. Shavuot (weeks) is the plural form. This holiday falls 50 days after Passover; therefore, the Hellenistic Jews (Jews living under Greek rule in the 3rd–4th centuries BC) named it Pentecost, from the Greek word pente, which means fifty. Shavuot marks the end of the seven-week period called Sefirat HaOmer (Counting of the Omer), which began at Passover.
“From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks [shavuot].” (Leviticus 23:15)
Today most Churches and Christians may not even mention this special day during the service or recognize the significance and even fewer will realize that this special day originates in a Jewish holiday! Pentecost is the time of the pouring out of the Ruah HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) on the Church! In Jewish communities throughout the world today, Jewish people are celebrating the Biblical holiday of Shavuot (Festival of Weeks). During Shavuot Jewish people stay up all night learning Torah! I think that would be so fun to do! It's a centuries old custom. Jewish men read from a Torah scroll wearing a tallit (prayer shawl) and tefillin (phylacteries).
The streets of Jerusalem were filled like this 2,000 years ago when Holy Spirit fire fell on the Believers united in prayer, and about 3,000 observant Jews were saved! In the Bible, scripture tells us that Shavuot is the second of the (Shelosh Regalim), three major annual pilgrimages of the Jewish people to Jerusalem!
Shavuot is such a multi-faceted holiday that it is also known by other Biblical and traditional names besides Shavuot and Pentecost:
Shavuot/Pentecost is The Giving of the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) and this ancient Biblical festival is particularly relevant to New Covenant followers of Yeshua (Jesus).
On Shavuot, the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) came upon Yeshua's talmidim (disciples) who had been studying all night, as was the custom. They were waiting according to His final instructions. That outpouring came around 9 a.m. during the morning sacrifices.
“Do not leave Jerusalem, but wait for the gift My Father promised, which you have heard Me speak about. For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.... But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:4–8)
What an awesome event in Biblical history!
On this day, the disciples of Yeshua received POWER from the Ruach HaKodesh (Holy Spirit) to be His witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth!
“When the day of Shavuot came... All of them were filled with the Ruach HaKodesh and began to speak in other tongues as the Ruach enabled them.” (Acts 2:1, 4)
Don't you want to have this Holy Spirit POWER in your own life and in the life of all your children!
Enjoy the day my friends and know that I am praying for you always! Stay in the LORD and remember, He holds every cell in your person together and when you surrender to Christ the presence of the LORD takes up residence in you! Don’t go through life not recognizing the greatest blessing of your life! There is a process to understanding and tapping into the ability to establish a connection with the Holy Spirit that "seals you" with the power to change your life and create infinite possibilities of living victoriously but that is a course that one believer must teach another believer as we go along the path in life! I will be teaching a course on the Holy Spirit more in the future and I hope you benefit from it!
