The Battle Is The LORDS

It seems like yesterday it was December and my gang was home and we like to remove ourselves from life and share the holidays with friends and family and basically recharge and goal set for the next year! This year we were getting ready to send Logan and Marena off to Peru for an 8 month medical mission trip! Well, now it's January 25 and I can say that it took until today for me to finally feel like I am getting back into a routine and feeling somewhat organized again. 

_Here is why I have been not writing or publishing as much as usual. I am glad to be back and hope we have a wonderful year in HEALTH!

As I Celebrated the New Year last night my family was divided between 2 Countries. So much has happened in the last 24 hours that our head is still spinning but I wanted to give you all an update and share how the LORD works when we sometimes wonder why events are happening (especially at airports) when we are trying to do the Lord's work!

Ken, Logan Willeford and Marena Willeford were detained at customs and missed their flight out of the country over a visa problem and ended up delayed in Miami until the following night. The next night on the flight to Peru Logan woke up his Dad and told him they keep asking for a doctor on the plane. Long story short Ken spent the flight Resuscitating a women and running IV's into her until they arrived in Arequipa and the medical team at the airport took over. The pilots gave Ken 3 bottles of wine as a token of appreciation. (that was really a gift from God that would be needed later....)

Ken got the kids settled in their new home and last night they decided to go out for dinner and watch fireworks in the square. One of the fireworks misfired and somehow hit Marena, in a square that was filled with thousands of people. Needless to say it was traumatic for Ken and Logan as they rolled her on the ground. The locals immediately began pouring their water bottles on her to decrease the heat. Ken later found out they protected their bags and belongings in the craziness of it all and made sure they had everything as they left for home.

​Once at home Marena's adrenaline wore off and she began to feel the intense pain from the burning. Ken needed something to help keep her calm and help with her pain and remembered the wine the "pilots" had given him as a gift. He had her drink it down as fast as she could until he could get her cleaned up, medicated and bandaged. Marena had her first drink which completely calmed her down while her pain medicine kicked in and tolerated the cleaning of her skin. And so, the beginning of their medical mission trip begins with bravery as they face a new country, new language, new culture and customs all while our heavenly Father provides and takes care of his sheep on airplanes, in the mission field, and watching fireworks as strangers suddenly become guardian angels and friends!
