The cinnamon plant possesses a phenomenal variety of treasures that rank it at the top of my favorite "medical" spices for healing! Cinnamon spice has been around for thousands of years and can be used in a variety of ways. Most people think of it as a food spice but in ancient times it was used as a medicine for many physical symptoms such as cold, flu, cough, digestive problems, menstrual issues, rheumatism, kidney issues, warts, respiratory infections, circulation as well as the ancients used it to kill off bacteria that would grow on the food! It is a very powerful antibacterial and antiviral! On the pages of history texts of the Middle Ages we see that people took cinnamon and boiled it in their wine and then drank it often for physical symptoms such as gout, and fevers!
It is so important to God that He included it in His written Hebrew Holy Scriptures and in the anointing oil! We can read about this oil in the Book of Exodus, Song of Solomon, Revelation and Proverbs! Essentially cinnamon has been around since the beginning of mankind. This delicious spice has been a favorite in Chinese and Ayurvedic Medicine and has just recently become an evidenced-based spice recommended by licensed healthcare providers for healing a multitude of chronic diagnosed diseases in our American Healthcare System!
I could write a thesis paper on all the hidden compounds and their power to work as medicine with hundreds of research articles to back it up but for today I will just highlight a few of the medicinal compounds and their value to health.
Cinnamon has been proven to be a very potent antimicrobial agent with specific antiviral, antifungal and antibacterial properties. A recent study took 5 different essential oils and applied these oils to a fungus called Aspergillus which is commonly found on corn and peanuts. It was discovered that a 4% solution of cinnamon oil was the most effective at inhibiting the growth of the aflatoxin, which is a very dangerous and carcinogenic mycotoxin, produced by Asperigillus and often present in America's food supply. I have used Cinnamon Essential Oil from the Youngevity Company with very good results! Click Here for Youngevity Website.
In another study cinnamon oil and its active ingredient cinnamaldehyde at 0.05% out performed 83 other essential oils and was found to markedly inhibit the biofilm formation of microbial fungus organisms such as P. aeruginosa and enterohemorrhagic escherichia coli. Big terms that basically mean cinnamon is very effective destroying microbial biofilms which get a foot-hold in your body because of unrestrained use of antibiotics and the ugly consequences of this over use of antibiotics in animals and patients. (Biofilms are a substance that form by one bacteria or many bacteria species. They stick or corrode on anything inside your body.and can cause decay or disease. They form when bacteria sticks to them and then they secrete a gluelike substance that will stick to medical implants, colon wall, biological tissues, etc.)
If you have been diagnosed with DIABETES you will benefit greatly consuming this spice! The research reports that the spice can regulate blood glucose levels! Cinnamon contains a special ingredient called cinnamic acid! This powerful biochemical compound has been figured out by scientist to decrease the blood sugar levels and improve glucose tolerance in a dose-dependent manner, and it does it as effectively as commonly used pharmaceutical drug! This special compound will act to improve the cells in your pancreas to secrete insulin!
Do you have CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE? Good news for you is found hidden within the cinnamon spice. A compound in cinnamon called cinnamaldehyde, works its "blessing" on your cardiovascular system! It will relax your aorta and relax your arteries via vaso-relaxation! This process will lower your high blood pressure. A recent study examined 115 different foods and found cinnamon to be the most potent food that had ANTI-INFLAMMATORY effects in the body! This is great news since chronic inflammation is recognized as a very high risk factor for heart disease.
I highly encourage you to begin eating lots of cinnamon and utilizing it in healthy recipes and also begin to experiment using cinnamon essential oil. Essential Oils can assist the removal of potentially harmful chemicals known as free-radicals which are produced in the body during cellular and tissue metabolism. Free-radicals are also formed when the body tries to remove petrochemicals and heavy metals from tissues.
Cinnamon's potential reaches to every organ and cell in the body and is very healing and very safe! One product I use with all of my Diabetic and Heart Patients is a product called Chromium Synergy. This is one of the best products on the market for healthcare providers to recommend to their patients. This product pulls together many studies advocating that this blend of nutrients at therapeutic amounts of cinnamon and other nutrients will work together for optimal insulin function and blood sugar control. Chromium Synergy combines the BEST chelated minerals in a base of cinnamon powder to assist the insulin receptor site function and cellular glucose uptake. It has NO GMO ingredients and is vegetarian. This is food that works like medicine and you can begin to use it in your Diabetes or Cardiovascular Home Management Self-Care Program!

If you would like to try using cinnamon essential oils at home take caution as to where your oil comes from and make sure it is not diluted with toxic ingredients.
Here is how you will use cinnamon oil:
1. 1-2 drops on a tissue and inhale!
2. 1 drop mixed with about 1 oz of a carrier oil such as Grapeseed Blending Oil and massage into skin!
3. 1 drop mixed into about 3 drops of a carrier oil such as Grapeseed Blending Oil or Jojoba Oil and rub on the bottom of your feet!
Cinnamon essential oil should ALWAYS be diluted with a carrier oil for use on the skin. Also, always dilute on children! I would not use it in children under age of 12 years old.
May The Lord bless you and keep you!
